Everyone is
familiar with the obvious vacation postcards from tourist attractions, historical sites or
the “Greetings from …” romantic locations, but a majority of our travel time can be spent at non-romantic, less than exciting locales - that's the primary theme
of this project. Those non-descript, rather mundane places are part of the
vacation/holiday narrative and actually provide a context for the more
memorable experiences. This project expands the concept of my 2016 “Americana
Road Trip” series to a new global perspective.
International
artists were invited to interpret this theme and submit their postcards with
the “You could be here!” visual tag integrated into their imagery. By doing so, the
mostly generic postcards convey a sense of irony and sarcasm to the potential recipients
and also elevates the mundane, often boring locales to a new level of appreciation.
A very special
“Thank You!” goes out to those artists who accepted the challenge.
